Welcome to The Shining Lights!
We are looking forward to getting to know you and your child. It is our goal and desire to provide a warm and loving place for your child to play and learn. This classroom offers half-day programs for both morning (6:30-12:00) and afternoon (12:00-6:00) and also a full-day program. Lunch is included in the afternoon and full-day program. Most of the structured teaching time and activities take place during the morning hours. Our classroom ratio is 1 teacher for every ten children and we have an extra teacher who "floats" during the busy time. We carry a 24-child roster most every day.
We will have a field trip once a month during the school year and once a week during the summer.
We have many learning activities planned for your child including: listening, following simple instructions, social skills (manners and making good choices), taking responsibility for personal behavior, as well as recognizing the alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes and cutting with scissors. The curriculum we will be using is from the High Reach Program which will help prepare your child fro Pre-K classes and is called Caterpillars. Our routine is very structured with some free time activities to keep your child busy and happy. There are big changes ahead for your child and we are excited to see them develop from toddlers to preschoolers!
Please print a copy of our monthly calendars as this gives information on weekly themes, activities and special days planned in the class, as well as helping you to prepare your child for class.
