Pesh St. Croix, Executive Director

Pesh St. Croix has been the director at the Sonshine Center since its opening in 1994. With over 25 years of experience as a director and administrator, Pesh has helped start two child care centers from inception, and has served on numerous boards including two assignments to the Governor’s Board of Childcare for the state of Colorado. Pesh has presented seminars at the ACSI childcare conference and Nations Conference for Childcare Directors. Her college education is in Business Administration and Child Care Management. Pesh has 3 grown children who grew up at the Sonshine Center and also worked in various classrooms.


Early Childhood Education Center
Jody Connor, Assistant to Executive Director

Jody Connor is our Assistant Director at the Main Center. She has been with the center for over 17 years. Prior to her return in 2005, she was a Group Leader in the Sonbeams classroom for three years, as well as working at both center’s offices. Teaching kids, building relationships, and communicating with parents have always been a passion in her heart. Jody and her husband were married in 1998 and have 2 wonderful children. Both kids have attended the Sonshine Center for many years and have continued at Faith Christian Academy.


Kay Rasor, Educational and Training Coordinator

Kay Rasor is the Curriculum and Training Coordinator as the Sonshine Center. She has 24 years experience in the corporate childcare and early childhood education fields. Kay has received a CDA Certification and has mentored and trained teachers for a variety of age groups. Kay has also taught Sunday school at Faith Bible Chapel for more that 36 years as a volunteer. She has a passion for teaching children about Christ and has had the privilege to travel to Israel three times. Kay has two grown daughters and four wonderful grandsons.


Darlene Yaffe, Registered Nurse and Teacher Trainer

The Sonshine Center is a dream come true to all of us who have the privilege to work here. As the R.N. consultant and former director of a childcare center, I was thrilled to be the Assistant Director even before the Sonshine Center opened in 1994. For the past eighteen years, I have enjoyed teaching CPR, First Aid, AED, Infant Safety, Medication Administration and Universal Precautions at the Center. I am also the Registered Nurse Consultant for the Sonshine Center. I am the mother of fourteen children and thirty-one grandchildren!


Infant Center



Tonya Pickner, Infant Center Assistant Director

Tonya Pickner has worked at the Sonshine Center since August 2009. She is the Infant Center Assistant Director. In 2014, she graduated from Red Rocks Community College having earned an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Tonya also holds a level 4 credential through the state of Colorado. She is married to her best friend and they have 2 sons. Tonya has a passion to care for children and work with their parents.

Little Blessings
Carol Prevost, Infant Center Supervisor and Head Teacher

Carol Prevost has been working at the Sonshine Infant Center since 2005. She has many years of experience working with children, including running her own in-home daycare for over 20 years. Her education is in nursing and she worked as a nurse for four years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She and her husband, Dick, have six children and six grandchildren. She loves watching and helping our little ones grow and change!

Linda Sarad-Hewes, Head Teacher

Linda Hewes has worked at the Sonshine Center since 2007. She is the head teacher in our Cherubs classroom. Linda has three grown children. She is ECE certified through Red Rocks Community College. Linda has a passion for seeing the children in her class progress from just starting to walk to running outside on the playground. She loves working with this age group.

Lions & Lambs
Vicky Bizu, Head Teacher

Vicky started at the Sonshine Center in August 2013. She has been working in the childcare field since 2008 and earned her Director Certification from Arapahoe Community College of Colorado in 2013. Vicky is the mother of five grown children. Her hobbies include reading, helping those in need and spending time with her family.

Educational Center


Deborah Babin, Head Teacher

Deborah Babin is the head teacher in our Rainbows classroom and has been at the Sonshine Center since 2010. She taught preschool aged children for 5 years prior to joining our staff. Deborah is ECE certified through Red Rocks Community College. She has been married to her husband Robin for over 21 years and they have 3 children. Deb enjoys exploring/learning and giving lots of love to the children.


Heather Bilyou, Head Teacher

Heather Bilyou has worked at the Sonshine Center since 2006. She has been the head teacher in our Sonbeams classroom for the past 10 years. She is ECE certified through Red Rocks Community College. Heather enjoys working with 2 year olds because they are at that stage where everything is fun and exciting while discovering how fun the world is around them. It is wonderful to help them learn and grow. She also volunteers with the Thornton Police Department Citizens Academy for various events and enjoy supporting our police officers.


Shining Lights Head Teacher and Before and After School Program
Ashley Hult

Ashley Hult is a graduate from Metro State University. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Human Performance and Sport with an educator’s license in Physical Education and Health. Ashley has been working with children since she graduated from high school. Ashley also coached both competitive softball and softball at Faith Christian High School. She has been at the Sonshine Center since 2013 working at the preschool level, in the After School Program and Elementary Summer Camp. Ashley’s goal as an educator is to shape children’s minds to be successful in the real world, strong in their beliefs, confident in who they are, and always pushing them to reach their goals. 


Sonshine Express
Maryann Glasco, Head Teacher

Maryanne was born in Denver and is a native to Colorado. She has over 13 years of childcare experience in daycare, 3 years as a full time floater, 2 years as an enrichment pullout specialist and currently the Head Teacher in Sonshine Express for the past 3 years. Maryann has completed ECE 101-Introduction to early childhood education and 103 Guidance Strategies through Red Rocks Community College. She is married and has 2 adult children and four grandchildren. Maryann enjoys the mountains and exploring the outdoors. She looks forward to a year of loving and teaching your precious little ones about Jesus and preparing them for Pre-Kindergarten.


Sonshine Kids
Donna Bennett, Head Teacher

Donna Bennett has worked at the Sonshine Center since 2012. She is the head teacher in our Sonshine Kids Classroom. Donna started teaching preschool in 2002. She received her Child Development Associate Certification in 2008. She has been married since 1989 and has two daughters, two sons and four grandchildren. She looks forward to making a difference in the lives of students in her classroom every day.

Pullout Enrichment Specialist
Georgia Tichota, Head Teacher

Georgia has been a part of the Sonshine Center family since 2005. She was head teacher for seven years in the Cherubs classroom. She has also worked in Core Knowledge, Elementary Summer Camp Program as lead-assistant teacher, and was the Pullout Enrichment Specialist previously for two years. Her most recent position was Head Teacher in the Shining Lights Classroom.

Georgia has completed ECE 101, 103 and 111. She is ECE certified and has over thirty years of child care experience. She and her husband David have been married since 1978. They have four grown sons, three daughter in laws and three grandchildren.

Core Knowledge Pre-Kindergarten Class
Carol Probst, Core Knowledge Head Teacher and Assistant Director

Carol Probst is the head teacher in our Core Knowledge Pre-K Classroom since 2009. She has a Master of Education degree from Regis University, a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Denver, and a Certificate in Early Childhood Professions Director from Arapahoe Community College. Her experience includes teaching programs for gifted and talented preschoolers. She has a deep passion for teaching reading, and therefore, enjoys teaching phonemic awareness to her students. She establishes a classroom environment where students develop self-sufficiency and a desire to embrace learning.
